We began making
fashion jewelry several years ago as a creative outlet, and became
fascinated with the many possibilities this hobby afforded us.
Early on, we discovered a community of beading and precious metal
craftsmen that
readily offered their friendship and expertise. These fine
artisans of handmade high fashion jewelry captured our imagination, and
many of them
offered classes to people interested in fashion jewelry design.
It wasn't long before we began taking
classes from these creative fashion jewelry designers, and learning
their design processes and jewelry making techniques. As our
knowledge base grew, and we became more proficient fashion jewelry
craftsmen, we realized we needed to expand our inventory to include a
more diverse assortment of materials. Soon we had amassed a huge
collection of gemstones, freshwater pearls, Swarovski
crystal, Czech glass, venetian glass, sterling silver beads and
findings. Having a greater stock of materials to draw upon
allowed us to be far more creative when designing our fashion jewelry.
Prior to this, we had been making fashion jewelry simply for our own
pleasure, and as gifts for friends and family. But as more and
more money became tied up in inventory, we decided to sell some of our
fashion jewelry creations in order to continue to grow our hobby.
The basement of our home became our workshop, and with the help of
family
and friends, we began selling our designs. We were delighted to
find
that there was a huge market for our fashion jewelry creations, and
through word-of-mouth our business began to steadily grow.
What had been a modest hobby, had the potential of becoming a
flourishing business. One thing tended to lead to another,
and our family and friends kept urging us to get some representation
from bead shops and fashion boutiques. They encouraged us to
exhibit our fashion jewelry creations in craft fairs, and jewelry and
gem shows so that we might get more exposure. Everywhere we went
our fashion jewelry creations were met with overwhelming approval and
success. As our business continued to grow and our audience
expand, we decided that the next logical step was to develop a presence
on the Internet. So, we began working on this web site.
Initially, we planned this site to showcase our creations,
solely. But, upon further consideration, we decided to include
the works of other fashion jewelry artisans as well. It is
thought that the works of many fashion jewelry designers, will give
this site greater appeal to a broad audience. Obviously, a wider
range of styles and materials can be incorporated here through
showcasing the works of a number of craftsmen. It is our
intention to attract artists to this site who produce outstanding, high
quality designs in their chosen medium. If you are a
craftsman of fine fashion jewelry, and are interested in using this
site as an outlet for your creations, please contact us at:
designers@fashionjewelryartisans.com.
As our online fashion jewelry business evolves, so too will this web
site. Currently, our galleries feature necklaces, but in the near
future, as
our online business grows, we plan to expand our galleries to include
rings, bracelets, earrings, and pendants. We will continue to
offer outstanding, high quality, handcrafted fashion jewelry designs
from designers that we have chosen to compliment our collection.
And, as designers, we, at Fashion Jewelry
Artisans, will continue to grow and hone our fashion jewelry
design skills to provide our audience with exciting innovative
creations in sterling silver, gemstones, freshwater pearls, Swarovski
crystal, lampwork beads, and Czech and Venetian glass.
